Many sponsors read for your own voice, and some ban AI outright. So Next Scholar helps you check and improve the essay you wrote. It never writes the essay for you, and it never adds facts that are not true.
Some scholarships ban AI help and may disqualify you. Read the rules on each official page before you use any AI tool. When we have an award’s AI rule on file, we show it on the award and in the essay check. If we have no rule on file, we say Unknown, never Allowed.
15 awards in our list have an AI rule on file that bans or limits AI help. On those awards, AI feedback and edit suggestions are switched off. See which awards and what they say.
What the essay help does
Puts the official prompt and word limit next to your draft, when we copied them from the official page (44 awards so far).
Tells you when you are over the word limit or drifting off the prompt.
Shows short notes on clarity and grammar next to your words. Nothing changes unless you pick it.
For students 13 and older: optional AI feedback from an AI model (OpenAI) with questions and notes about your own draft. It never writes or rewrites the essay.
Scholar adds an essay library, so you can reuse your own paragraphs for a similar prompt.
What it will not do
Write an essay, an outline, or a paragraph for you.
Make up an award, an activity, a hardship, or a result.
Run AI feedback on an award whose rules ban AI.
Run AI feedback for a student under 13.
Tell a sponsor whether your essay used AI. Any AI-pattern note is a rough guess for you, not proof.
How to write a strong scholarship essay yourself
Read the prompt twice. Write down the one question it is really asking.
List three true moments from your life that answer it. Pick the one only you could tell.
Write a rough draft fast, in your own words. Do not edit yet.
Cut to the word limit. Keep the details, cut the general claims.
Check it against the prompt. Every paragraph should help answer it.
Read it out loud. Fix what sounds unlike you.
Ask a teacher, counselor, or parent to read it. People notice what tools miss.
What Next Scholar does and does not do
We never write your essay and never make up achievements, awards, or activities.
We check your own words against the prompt and the word limit when we have them from the official page.
We show each award’s AI rule when it is on file, and switch off edit suggestions when the award bans AI.
Edit suggestions are small, shown next to your words, and used only if you pick them.
We do not detect AI writing for sponsors. Any AI-pattern note in the essay check is a rough estimate for you, not proof.
Questions
Will Next Scholar write my scholarship essay?
No. We never write your essay, and we never make up achievements, awards, or activities. You write every word. We help you check it.
Is it OK to use AI on a scholarship essay?
It depends on the award. Some ban AI and may disqualify you. Some allow spelling and grammar help only. Many say nothing. Read the official rules first. If they are unclear, ask the sponsor or do not use AI.
What does the AI essay feedback do?
For students 13 and older, an AI model (OpenAI) reads your own draft with the prompt and word limit and asks questions or leaves short notes. It never writes or rewrites your essay, and it is off for awards whose rules ban AI.
Is the essay help free?
The essay check is free. Scholar ($9.99/mo or $99.99/yr) adds the essay library, where you save your own essays and reuse your own paragraphs.
