What the TEACH Grant is

TEACH stands for Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education. A school that takes part in the program can give this grant to a student who agrees to teach. The official page lists the current amounts. We do not copy those dollar amounts here. Your school tells you what you can get.

Who it is for

It is for students who plan to teach. Federal Student Aid lists extra rules. In short:

Next Scholar does not decide if you qualify. The school and Federal Student Aid do.

The teaching promise

The grant comes with a teaching promise. Federal Student Aid calls this a service obligation. In plain words:

If you do not meet that promise, the TEACH Grants you received turn into a Direct Unsubsidized Loan. You must pay that loan back. Interest is charged from the date each grant was paid out. Read the official page before you say yes.

Those facts are summarized from the Federal Student Aid TEACH Grant page and the U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid Handbook, Volume 9 (2026–2027). If those pages and this summary ever differ, the official pages win.

How Next Scholar helps

Next Scholar helps you organize applications in one place. You can match awards, keep documents, track deadlines, and work through a packet. We do not file the TEACH Grant for you. We do not write your essays. We do not invent awards. A match is not a promise you will receive the grant.

Free to start. Paid plans are a flat monthly or yearly price to organize applications — not coaching, not a percent of awards, and not a percent of aid. See pricing.
